BIOGRAPHY
Chema García Ibarra has written and directed The Attack of the Robots from Nebula-5 (2009), Protoparticles (2010), Mystery (2013), Uranes (2014), The Disco Shines (2016), The Golden Legend (2019, co-directed with Ion de Sosa), and The Sacred Spirit (2021)—all domestic sci-fi films made without professional actors. His work has been selected at festivals such as Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, Locarno, Sundance, Berlinale, San Sebastián, and Mar del Plata. Among his more than two hundred awards are two Special Mentions at Sundance, a Jury Mention at San Sebastián, and the Vanguard & Genre Competition Award at BAFICI. Since 2015, he has taught the course “Anti-filmmaking” in the Documentary Film Program at ECAM.
Leonor Díaz Esteve, born in Elche (Alicante), is a production designer and costume designer. She has been the artistic force behind all of Chema García Ibarra’s films, overseeing production design, wardrobe, casting and location scouting, as well as the overall artistic concept. She has also led the art direction for films by directors such as David Pantaleón (A Male) and the duo Marc Sempere / Leire Apellániz (Cosmic Chant). Her accolades include Best Production Design at ALCINE (Alcalá de Henares Film Festival), Best Costume Design at the Medina del Campo Film Festival, and Best Production Design for The Sacred Spirit at the Mar del Plata Film Festival.
