BIOGRAPHY
Luis E. Parés (Madrid, 1982) is a historian and documentary filmmaker. He has directed the short films Los conspiradores, Mi ideología. Variaciones sobre un concepto, Aidez l’Espagne, El cadáver del tiempo, Los conspiradores, and El espectro político, which have been screened at numerous national and international festivals such as Clermont-Ferrand, Flaherty Seminar, and FID Marseille. He also directed the feature film La primera mirada, which premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival. He is currently working on his second feature, Bailar la muerte, based on his doctoral thesis of the same name, completed at Pompeu Fabra University.
Julio Ruiz (Almería, 1993) is a flamenco dancer and choreographer. Over the past ten years, he has premiered nine original productions, including Tocar a un hombre (2021) and La Familia, which premiered in Madrid in June 2025. He was part of the cast of La Fura Dels Baus in the show El Amor Brujo, performing alongside Esperanza Fernández and Marina Heredia. Since 2016, he has toured nationally and internationally as a solo dancer and teacher, performing at major dance festivals such as Flamenco Festival London, Festival de Jerez, Granada’s Music and Dance Festival, and the Biennial of Flamenco in Seville, among others. In 2025, he became the first flamenco choreographer to receive a residency from the Centre National de la Danse in Paris and the Cité Internationale des Arts.
