Since its very first edition, FILMADRID has sought to make the city of Madrid a key part of the festival. For this 12th edition, we are reviving a long-standing festival tradition that we haven’t held since the pandemic: the Film Tour, a walking tour through downtown Madrid to visit locations where Spanish films have been shot. Some of these stops are places we walk past often and which, through the lens of film, can be rediscovered with fresh eyes, but we will also pass by corners that cinema reveals to us for the first time. At several of these stops, the directors or collaborators of the films themselves will be waiting for us, sharing their experiences from the shoot and offering insights into their creative processes. The tour features an exceptional guide, Professor Nicolás Grijalba, an expert on Madrid cinema, who has designed a historical walk combining cinematic values with the social and political impact of some of these films. With this activity, aimed at all audiences, FILMADRID highlights the cinematic potential of the city we call home.
