O Sangue (1989) is the inaugural gesture of Pedro Costa’s career, one of the greatest filmmakers of our time. A youth film but also a work whose life — fictional and behind the camera — takes us to the idea of deconstructing old places and rebuilding new spaces to inhabit\/create. What this audiovisual essay seeks to do is to show how the characters’ and filmmaker’s gestures are the fundamental writing of these transformations.
