Critical text
The title of the Icelandic filmmaker Helena Stefansdottir's first feature film means "indoor swimming pool". It is not the first story of intrigue, terror and mystery created around one, but it is that "indoor" where Natatorium finds its unique personality. Who has not wondered what Suspiria would be like if it hadn’t been set in an intimate Nordic spa... Sometimes the Boogeyman, sometimes kind of uncertainty, thanks to its careful staging, its well-crafted characters and its tremendously narrative sound design, the Natatorium pool pulsates with a life of its own. You just have to dare to dive in. RAFA S. CASADEMONT
