Critical text
Mouramateus' new film is titled after its protagonist, whose name already hints at her origins. Greice (who has a younger sister named Kelly) pays homage to the famous American actress, with a Brazilian way of pronouncing (and writing) her name, in a nod to Hollywood culture, while also denoting the protagonist's humble and fanciful origins. A funny comedy that plays with the boundaries between reality and fiction, Greice also addresses the relationship between Brazil and Portugal, and the differences in culture and social class.
