BIOGRAPHY

Dane Komljen

DANE KOMLJEN DANE KOMLJEN (SFR Yugoslavia, 1986) studied cinema and art. He made two features, All the Cities of the North (2016) and Afterwater (2022), along numerous short films. He works and lives in Berlin.

An epidemic affected the people on the riverbank. Archival footage in Super8 shows the life that used to go on in the area, the games and leisure activities of the community. Now plants and trees eat away at the buildings of a socialist past, a space abandoned by the people that Komljen elevates into fantasy and legend. All these trees are the remains of the ancient human presence, the only representatives of life and clearly have something to tell us. NURIA CUBAS
