Critical text
Session dedicated to Ainhoa Rodríguez, who opens FILMADRID with her first feature film Destello bravío (2021), premiered at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam.
The filmmaker from Extremadura (although born in Madrid,) Ainhoa Rodríguez, directed between 2008 and 2009 the series Aprende con..., in which non-professional actors recreate literary works and myths of popular culture through crazy situations, using play, creation and the absurd as tools to think about fundamental elements of the collective imaginary with a comical tone.
In 2016, she directed the musical short film Fade, the story of an older woman ́s sexual fantasy. A visually powerful work that challenges the social taboos and repressive conservatism of the Spanish society. The work chosen by Ainhoa Rodríguez to complete the session is the mediumlength film Las tentaciones del doctor Antonio, directed by Federico Fellini (a key author for the director) in 1962 and which formed part of the collective film Boccaccio ‘70.
