Who is Calypso? Myths have always provided a penetrating convex mirror in which you can contemplate contemporary reality. But the fi lm by Rodrigo Lima and Lucas Parente, in addition to the classic fi gure, uses other resources no less penetrating to braid a dialogue with the past: A Família do Barulho and Cleópatra by Júlio Bressane, Floresta do Amazonas by Heitor Villa-lobos, or the Meu Sofrer by Noel Rosa. The purpose: to appeal to the imagination of the spectator, to propitiate its interpretation through an oblique journey towards the punctum of the present. RAMÓN DEL BUEY
