Un Volcán Habitado / Sesión Relajada

David Pantaleón y José Víctor Fuentes | 2023 | 66'

SYNOPSIS

On September 19, 2021, after 50 years, a new volcano emerged on the island of La Palma. During the months of the eruption, a group of childhood friends shared audio messages via WhatsApp; creating a daily chronicle of wander and tragedy, far from the media narrative. "An Inhabited Volcano" is a collective portrait of the friendship and the spirit of the people of a land, which from time to time, have to live through the hypnotic and devastating power of nature.

Multimedia

Critical text

In September 2021, a volcano on the island of La Palma erupted. Moving away from the media reading, the documentary captures the uncertainty of a group of friends, through the testimonies in the form of audio messages shared in a common chat room, and the overwhelming force of nature. This relaxed screening is another step in FILMADRID's efforts to make the festival an increasingly inclusive space. By reducing the volume of the sound, applying ambient lighting, reviewing the content and allowing mobility during the screening, the aim is to create a much more comfortable experience for people with autism spectrum disorder, which is a fundamental contribution in the construction of inclusive spaces in cinemas.
