Critical text
In his second feature film, Alberto Gracia’s main character is Rober Perdut, ex-leader of the 1980s punk band Los Fiambres. With large doses of risk and humour, we accompany characters who move around the screen without having a clear pretext. Gracia lays out the loss of the self in the contemporary subject and his failed attempt to recover through consumption and excess. The drugs that Perdut seeks out and consumes are compared with the images that are relentlessly thrown up by televisions, telephones, security cameras or video games and which serve to make a collage, not only visual, but especially sonorous, of the bombardment to which we are subjected. A constant siege that contributes to emptying everything it reaches of meaning. La estrella errante is a must-see film by one of the most daring and solid filmmakers on the contemporary scene.
