SHAHAD AMEEN was born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He graduated from the University of West London with a degree in Video Production and Film Studies. Her short films include Our Own Musical (2011), Leila's Window (2011) and Eye & Mermaid (2013). In 2019 he made his feature film debut with Scales.

Saudi Arabian director Shahad Ameen made her mark with the short film Eye & Mermaid before becoming one of the revelations on the world film scene with her debut feature Scales (2019.) The main character of this 14-minute gem is Hanan, an eleven-year-old girl who lives in a coastal village on the Arabian Peninsula, devoted to discovering the adult universe, full of fascinating but not always luminous mysteries.
