Critical text
The increasing rhythm of the drums preludes the nocturnal wandering to which the film by Ewerton Belico and Samuel Marotta summons us. The lampposts and the power lines of a Brazilian neighborhood seem to invert the night logic: the constellation of lights is not in the sky but in the ground, illuminating a boisterous party and differentiating itself from the surrounding darkness. This is the stage for soliloquies, sex, alcohol, aimless walks in which each character faces his or her existential situation as he or she walks through deserted streets. Dark tunnels, empty buses, flaking walls, rubble and abandoned furniture are the landscape that envelop the encounters of subjects with automatons appearance, but who, nevertheless, do not give up. The bonfires and the fire of the cigarettes are their particular torches, refuges in which to fight loneliness. In spite of everything, they talk, confess, turntheirvulnerabilityintoawayoflife,a way of resistance. RAMÓNDELBUEY
