Dane Komljen y Gianna Scholten

DANE KOMLJEN ((SFR Yugoslavia, 1986) studied cinema and art. He made two features, All the Cities of the North (2016) and Afterwater (2022), along numerous short films. He works and lives in Berlin.

What are cities that are imagined, cities that are dreamt of? The 19th century missionary priest Don Bosco had a dream, he envisioned a new city, rich in raw materials, a promised land of milk and honey, bathed in the Sunday sun that would be shared equally among its inhabitants. The rubble of that city is now submerged under a lake at the foot of Brasilia, which emerges as a contrived entity whose lack of spontaneity contrasts with any fantasy. NURIA CUBAS
